This Index covers numbers 1 - 16 of the Bulletin of Industrial Archaeology in CBA Group 9. It covers industrial archaeological work in the Group 9 (or South Midlands) Region of the Council for British Archaeology. This comprised the counties of Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire until the county boundary changes of 1974, when parts of Berkshire (mainly the Vale of the White Horse District) were transferred to Oxfordshire. The aim of the Bulletin was to include details of all finds and studies undertaken, publications and articles etc relevant to the industrial archaeology of each county.
The arrangement of the Index is straightforward. The issue number is followed by the page number: thus "12/39" indicates number 12, page 39. A table giving the issue numbers and dates is given below.
County and other abbreviations are, hopefully, self-explanatory. Page numbers in italic refer to illustrations.
This index was produced by Barbara Hird, indexer, under the direction of Edward Legg, Chairman of the CBA South Midlands committee. We would like to thank Barbara Hird for her painstaking work to produce this index.
